It is much easier for me to understand the content if it would be translated in English. Sometimes there is no need for me to use it because there are some sites that do have a built in language translation tool.

Re: Are Viral Videos Really Just Adverts in Disguise?

Mmmm. Jelly... and phones, of course.

Re: Are Viral Videos Really Just Adverts in Disguise?

It took 3 laborious attempts to get jelly to the right consistency... the phone didn't mind though. In fact, I think it's so tough it half ate it's way out!

Re: Are Viral Videos Really Just Adverts in Disguise?

Nice jello

Re: Are Viral Videos Really Just Adverts in Disguise?

Tom, you're right, it's not an easy call but in my mind, if it looks like an ad then surely it is one, the nature of virals should be 'guerrilla marketing'.

Re: Are Viral Videos Really Just Adverts in Disguise?

Mikey,

Interesting, I think the key to the Nokia video is that it demonstrates a clear benefit (for all those people who have a desperate need to set their phone in jelly!) and contains the other ingredients that make it a successful viral product. Its not always easy! What do you think of this Lenovo viral? http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Tom

Re: Does Plurk work for you?

I've not looked at plurk (or twitter come to that, although I'm getting more tempted by the day)... I seem to have nested in Facebook and that does me for now.

Unless it's radically different from Twitter, I fear they may have missed the boat - the critical mass have accepted Twitter and now it'll be too much hassle for most to change (as your colleague has demonstrated). If Facebook or Twitter can combine the popular features of eachother or any new upstart, there'll be little chance of a new contender taking over I reckon. The key for all these services is who else is using it - if all your mates are on facebook for instance, you're probaby not going to enjoy "plurking" or whatever.

Having said that, I never thought I'd stoop to using Facebook and now I'm on it everyday - I sneered at Twitter and now I'm interested in some of the people who are Tweeting and for that reason want to join up so it shows that my opinion is usually the opposite of what will happen... buy your Plurk shares now!!!

Re: Content marketing – the new social media?

Thanks for linking to my post and for your thoughtful comments here. You make a fair point, and I'm actually working on a post right now regarding 'the content' itself.

I agree, there is a slight tinge of commodity about the word 'content.' I think many producers pump out 'content' with little thought to developing lasting data that people will be interested in engaging with beyond a few minutes.

I hope you'll stop by Eyecube in the future to hear more from me on this subject.

Thanks,

Re: Content marketing – the new social media?

And here's a good piece on "content marketing" on Boston.com - check it out.
